The young woman on page 84 of your Spanish One text wants to buy a white shirt. It's on sale for $150. That's pesos, you'll see, when you read the dialogue below the picture. Your brain, accostumed to U.S. dollars, might be saying "Whoa! Too expensive!" How many U.S. dollars does 150 pesos add up to? That depends on which country's peso you are using. There are at least 4 different Latin American countries who call their money pesos, and each is a unique currency.
To find out the price of this shirt in U.S. dollars, click on
type in 150 for "amount", select "Argentine Pesos", then
"U.S. dollars", then "Convert".
See how much the shirt would cost in other countries that also use pesos. Keep
in mind that these exchange rate sites are continually updated, while your book
was published in 2000 and will become out of date.
